Do you have a relatively new PC or Mac that would support running transcription software with audio or video media while researching people, places, and things on the Internet that are discussed in filmed footage?

We transcribe interview and documentary footage, reality TV programs, and classes for an online graduate program.

Schedule is flexible for night owls, computer-savvy retirees, teachers with spare time ...

Software for audio-only files provided. Some projects will be audio that is stripped out of a video file, while other projects are in video format. All projects require us to provide time-coded transcripts of the recorded dialog.
You act as a sub-contractor, receive 1099 at tax time. As a contractor, you're responsible for maintaining your own equipment, resources, and tools of the trade. You complete projects, we bill clients, receive payment, pay you.

Tools you'll need:
You will purchase video transcription software ($90 - $115) if you decide to add video support to your bag of tricks. (We'll provide you with audio transcription software - see above.)
Foot pedal required to control playback (approx. $72). (If you have a physical challenge that would prohibit use of a foot pedal, we can recommend transcription software to enable set-up of hot keys to control media playback.)
Computer - Mac or PC - with at least 1 GB of RAM & enough hard disk space to work with video/audio files you will transcribe.
Word processing software - open source is a-okay. A good quality pair of head phones is suggested and at times is required.
Set-up to interpret time code signal for reality TV show ($120) when you decide to jump in on these projects.
High-speed Internet access required to download the large media files we will be uploading for you.

Grammar assessment required. Typing test required.
