The Medical Transcriptionist will be responsible to the hospital, patient and Medical Staff to provide accurate and timely transcription of highly technical dictation by physicians and other health care professionals regarding patient assessment, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc. , in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of health care services.
The Medical Transcriptionist must possess a vast knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmaceutical, as well as excellent English grammar, spelling, editing and medical report composition and formatting and must have the ability to understand diverse accents, dialects and dictation styles needed to correctly search out new terms and to recognize and interpret various accents and voices. The transcriptionist, at some point in time, may have to assist in the orientation and training of new employees and/or students, as well as attend seminars/educational programs, etc. required to upgrade their skills. The transcriptionist must be able to maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers, patients and Medical Staff. The person must understand and comply with the need for strict confidentiality.
