Part-Time, Temporary Legislative Data Assistant

The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) seeks part-time, temporary legislative data assistants to analyze state legislation affecting immigrants.

MPI is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank in Washington, DC dedicated to analysis of the movement of people worldwide. Legislative data assistants will work for the National Center on Immigrant Integration Policy within MPI and may work, in part, off-site. Therefore, all applicants must have access to a computer and the Internet.

Successful candidates must possess strong research skills, knowledge of the legislative process, and an ability to work independently and on deadline. Applicants must also be detail oriented with excellent data entry and organizational skills. Law students, recent law school graduates, and other individuals with legal training or experience using legal search engines such as Westlaw and LexisNexis are preferred.

Expected start date is late October 2009; legislative data assistants will be paid $15 per hour.
